How to use
- Clean the joint with solvent, not detergent and water. That is what most people reach for on a tub and it is what leaves the bead to fail.
- Good on acrylic tubs and surrounds, tile, glass, porcelain and metal.
- Run it with a drip-free gun, the 930-GTD or the 208D. A thin silicone runs on after you let go.
- Tool the bead before it skins. You have about 30 minutes, and it is fully cured in 24 hours.
Where not to use it
Short, because it is only what we can source for this formula. The clear is an oxime chemistry with its own exclusion list, and that list does not transfer to an alkoxy silicone, so it is not repeated here.
- Not paintable. It is silicone. Paint will not take. For a joint that gets painted, that is Painter's Caulk
- Not where the bead has to disappear on glass or dark stone. A white bead shows. Take the clear or Crystal Clear
- Not on a wet or damp surface. Let a shower dry out before you seal it
Surface preparation: clean with solvent. Do not use detergent, soap and water, which is what most people reach for on a tub. The full exclusion list belongs on the white datasheet, which is not published yet; ask and we will send it.

Compare It With The Others
Elongation at break on one scale. Pick any other formula in the line and the bars show how far each stretches from the same rest length, so a 350% bead and a 700% bead read as different here as they are in the joint. More stretch is not always the answer, which is why the facts underneath say what each one is for.
Why Most Silicone Will Not Hold On An Acrylic Tub
Most of the silicone on the shelf cures one of two ways, and neither one is made for acrylic. Acetoxy silicones cure by releasing acetic acid, which is the vinegar smell. Oxime silicones cure by releasing an oxime. Both bond poorly to acrylic and both can stress-craze it, so the bead that looked fine on the day lets go of the tub surround a season later. That is the failure most people have already had with a bathroom caulk.
What we did about it
The white Kitchen & Bath formula cures on an alkoxy system instead. It is rated for acrylic, it bonds to it, and it does it without the smell. The clear formula is an oxime, which is why it is for glass, tile, stone and metal and never for the acrylic tub itself.
